Faithful is the second novel written by Kim Cash Tate, a well-known speaker with Women of Faith. This book may be described as a “Christian romance novel.” It tells the story of Cydney, Dana, and Phyllis, three African American women who share an abiding friendship. All three of them, however, are in liminal places in their lives as they approach milestone birthdays and experience the pain of betrayal, isolation, and spiritual doubt.
Each woman faces an emotional – and very personal – crisis. Cydney is nearing forty, is unmarried, and longs for a husband and family. Her loneliness is accentuated as she helps her younger sister, Stephanie, with wedding plans. Dana’s life is upended when she discovers her seemingly perfect husband committing adultery. And Phyllis is depressed by her husband’s disinterest in her Christian faith.
All three women wonder whether God hears their prayers and must choose whether to remain faithful to God.
